Non-Denominational / Independent churches are churches which have not joined a denomination or association of churches. Each local congregation is independent (or "congregational"); in other words, each local congregation is independent of any other congregation, autonomous, and fully self-supporting.

Nearly all Non-Denominational / Independent churches are protestant and many are considered evangelical. Some Non-Denominational / Independent churches are members of loose networks of churches, such as the Willow Creek Association or the Purpose Driven network.

It is nearly impossible to know how many Non-Denominational / Independent churches there are nationwide.
